The Hastings Kool-Aid Factory

Built in the post-War era of 1950 to meet the sudden rise in demand for the product, the Kool-Ade (name was later changed to Kool-Aid) Factory hosted some 300 workers working to produce nearly 1 million packets per day.
The invention of Kool-Aid has been celebrated for decades in Hastings, NE, every August at the annual Kool-Aid Festival, bringing tourism to an otherwise small town. Though the factory hasn't been full functioning since the late 1980s, parts of it remained open for guided historical tours all the way up to the first days of the Outbreak. With a small cafeteria, several powerful and independently functioning generators, and barbed wire fences surrounding the perimeter - the Kool-Aid Factory could potentially be an optimal choice for a group seeking safety in the AO World.

The Colony - as seen on survivalsl.webs.com

The As-Yet-Unnamed Colony is settled deep in the Hastings country-side, consisting of a large house, barn, garden, and a sturdy fence surrounding the area. Thus far, the population stands at 20, with supplies and space both becoming scarce. Since the Fall of the United, a community of religious zealots, the Colony is the only settlement of survivors in the county to set down roots. Power and water heating are nearly unheard of, but the Colony does boast safety and indoor plumbing.

Hastings Municipal Airport

A pitiful excuse for an airport: the Hastings Municipal Airport lies in the Northwestern corner of the city, bordering on Clay County. Because of its size, the airport typically only takes private planes, with occasional smaller connecting flights from the Dallas & Fort Worth and Omaha Airports. Aside from this, the airport is built to withstand the worst tornadoes Nebraska has to offer. While it's fence may be lacking, the building contains radio communication capabilities far beyond those of any hand-held. Canned goods, several first-aid kits, gasoline, and several planes - all wait for anyone that can make it out that way.
